Some service providers I found to be invaluable:

  • Hatch Editorial Services https://hatch-books.com
    • Jessica Hatch has produced top-notch editorial assessments and has provided welcome guidance to my books.
  • Reedsy www.reedsy.com
    • Reedsy is an excellent source for choosing a free-lance editor for your projects – I discovered Jessica there.
  • QueryTracker https://querytracker.net
    • If you decide to follow the traditional publishing route, this is a powerful site for finding literary agents and keeping track of your submissions to them.
  • GIMP www.gimp.org
    • GIMP is a free and very powerful image editing program, and a must-have if you are trying to manipulate your own images.
  • Adobe InDesign www.adobe.com
    • Yes, it is a monthly subscription, but for me InDesign is a necessary program for turning text and graphics into the interiors and covers for your books – capable of producing print-ready .pdf’s, especially when used in conjunction with available templates.
  • Book Design Templates www.bookdesigntemplates.com
    • I found these templates, for both InDesign and Word, to be very user-friendly and customizable, taking a lot out of the learning-curve in using InDesign for book publication.
  • Entrada Publishing www.entradapublishing.com
    • A good source for obtaining feedback from paid beta-readers.
