Why the name Rain and Breeze Books?

The major portion of my life was spent in Southeast Alaska where wind and rain are the breath and blood of the region. There is no escaping the weather there and it soon becomes a part of you, like the rain gear and Xtratuf boots that it only makes sense to wear. I also happen to have two daughters named Raineka and Brianna, so Rain and Breeze seemed a natural nod to them. When living in Juneau, we had a boat named Rain and Breeze, and now the name of this company is a happy recycle.

The Author

I grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska and raised a family in Juneau.  My professional career in Alaska included both fisheries biometrics and fisheries management positions with the state and federal governments. Now retired and living in northern Idaho, I began a small business in lutherie – building guitars, Irish bouzoukis, and ukuleles (www.dastringedinstruments.com). Accompanying my wife while she conducted research during a recent stint in India, I devoted time to trying to improve my Tamil and writing fiction to escape the heat of mid-day. Since I’m unable to multi-task easily, the lutherie business has flagged somewhat while I get some stories onto paper.
